Taiko Experiences

Sado Island Taiko Centre (Tatakokan) offers hands-on Taiko Experiences developed by Sado-based, world-renowned taiko performing arts ensemble Kodo. Our unique programs are based on the ensemble’s vast experience and know-how, acquired over the course of four decades of touring.
A Taiko Experience is your chance to have fun playing taiko and discovering more about this captivating instrument firsthand. It’s an uplifting encounter filled with good vibrations and resonant sound. You’ll play a range of games using taiko and feel the joy of playing together, as one, by mindfully tuning into one another.

You can book a Taiko Experience to enjoy with family, friends, by yourself, or in a group.
Each session generally lasts 60 minutes, regardless of participant numbers.
*Individuals can book for up to 25 people. Organizations can book for up to 45 people.

Workcation

The term “workcation” is a combination of the words “work” and “vacation.” It means to work remotely while enjoying leisure time at a base away from your home and regular workplace. This type of travel has been rising in popularity as a result of work-style reform initiatives and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Popular destinations include resorts, hot spring areas, and national parks. Sado Island has plenty of places that suit workcation travel to a T.
Sado Island has stunning nature and there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy. When the weather doesn’t cooperate, Tatakokan offers a chance to enjoy views of the great outdoors from the comfort of indoors. Add a taiko experience to your workcation to release some stress—beating the drums and immersing yourself in good vibrations echo is a great way to recharge.
Equipped with free Wi-Fi, T’s Cafe is the perfect place for remote work. A change of scene can give you a fresh perspective, so who knows? Inspiration or new ideas could emerge while you take a break to gaze out at the magnificent view.

Drop-in Visits

No booking? No worries. You are welcome to drop in for a look around Tatakokan any time. We’ll show you around the facilities, explaining the various taiko drums and the views. If there are no taiko experiences or other events underway at the time, you’re welcome to have a look around inside the main hall. If there happens to be a session or event underway, you’re welcome to take a peek from the upstairs gallery.
